Eyes on 2025: North Side Indians Poised for a Breakthrough Season

After a promising 2024 campaign that saw the North Side Indians finish 6-5 overall and 4-1 in region play, the stage is set for an even bigger leap in 2025. With key pieces returning and new leaders stepping up, expectations are rising for a team that looks ready to make a deeper postseason run.

One of the biggest storylines heading into the new season is the transition at quarterback. With senior Henry Schiebout graduating, the offense is now firmly in the hands of Quinn Jenkins. Jenkins, who shared duties under center last year, brings experience, athleticism, and a growing command of the offense. Now the full-time starter, he’ll have the opportunity to lead the Indians with confidence and consistency.

Helping Jenkins in that effort is one of the most dynamic weapons in the state — senior wide receiver Javonte Smith. Already one of Tennessee’s top recruits, Smith returns as the centerpiece of North Side’s offensive attack. His combination of speed, route-running, and playmaking ability makes him a nightmare for defenders and a dream target for a quarterback looking to make his mark.

But the 2025 Indians aren’t just about star power. Last season’s success was fueled by a defense that held region opponents to under 24 points per game — a trend the coaching staff hopes to continue with a tough, disciplined core returning. If the defense can match or improve on last year’s performance, it will give the offense the freedom to take more chances and control games from start to finish.

With a year of growth behind them and playoff aspirations ahead, North Side enters the 2025 season with a clear goal: to go further, compete harder, and turn potential into results. The talent is there. The leadership is developing. And the hunger to win is stronger than ever.
