Located at 84 Harts Bridge Road in Jackson, Tennessee, South Side High has built a strong athletic reputation through consistent postseason appearances and state-level success. Competing in the Jackson–Madison County School System, the Hawks wear their black-and-white colors with pride as they take the field, court, and diamond.
South Side has been a frequent contender in the TSSAA state football playoffs with 23 appearances, including recent bids in 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, and 2018. Though a state championship has remained elusive, South Side’s football program is a regional powerhouse, regularly advancing into the postseason.
The Hawks boy’s basketball team has 9 state tournament appearances in 2025, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2018, 2014, 2013, 2004, 2003. With 4 runner-up finishes the pinnacle came in 2014 when the Hawks claimed their 1st state championship. The title highlights the Hawks’ ability to excel under pressure and secure victory on Tennessee’s biggest basketball stage.
The Lady Hawks basketball team also has 9 state tournament appearances in 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2017, 1994, 1990, 1969, 1966. The Lady hawks had a runner-up finish in 2022, with 1 state championship in 2023 along with a perfect 34-0 record. The Lady Hawks compiled a 58-3 record over those two years.
The Lady Hawks volleyball team also has 9 state tournament appearances in 2002, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018. While the title has eluded the Lady Hawks, they have been a staple of success in the Jackson sports scene with the program regularly showing its depth and competitive spirit.
