The fall of 2015 marked the last time Jackson Central-Merry fielded a girls’ soccer team. That season ended with an 0-6 record, and by the close of the 2015–2016 school year, JCM closed its doors entirely.
Fast forward to 2021—JCM reopened as an academic institution, reintroducing students to the classroom and a limited slate of sports programs. Since then, as enrollment has steadily grown, so has the list of athletic opportunities. Now, in the fall of 2025, JCM is once again making history.
In May, the school held tryouts for returning students interested in joining the newly revived Lady Cougars soccer team, followed by tryouts for rising 9th graders on June 20th. Nearly a decade after their last match, the Lady Cougars are set to return to the pitch.
As JCM continues its mission to “Restore the Roar,” the return of girls’ soccer is yet another powerful step forward in the school’s proud resurgence.
